The Queensland golf industry relies heavily on thousands of volunteers giving their time freely to support the sport. This varies from supporting their local golf club, Golf Queensland’s High Performance Team or getting involved in school programs. Regardless of the activity, it is impossible to put a value on the enormous contribution that volunteers make to the community.
Why volunteer?
• Learn new skills or share your talents with others
• Have fun and meet new people
• Gain a sense of accomplishment
• Make a difference to your local golf community

Recognising our volunteers
Golf Queensland has introduced a new initiative assisting the golf industry in recognising their volunteers.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the golfing industry. They spend countless hours mowing fairways, gardening, running competitions, promoting their club and more importantly assisting the industry in attracting more people to the game.
Golf Queensland will present nominated volunteers with a certificate of appreciation at the District's AGM.
To be eligible for recognition the recipient will be an individual who contributes to golf in Queensland voluntarily for the period 1 January 2017 – 31 December 2017. The recipient of this achievement may be, but not limited to, a club committee member, junior co-ordinator, club captain or an official at association or state level etc. as long as they receive no remuneration (apart from reimbursement for expenses incurred) in respect of their duties.
Nominees’ achievements as a volunteer for the period 1 January 2017 – 31 December 2017 must be of such standards of excellence to have set themselves apart from their peers so as to warrant them becoming the recipient of this award.
This recognition applies to achievements over the one (1) year period with the number of years of service not considered in the judging of this category. Nominations for the Volunteer Recognition Program are automatically included in the judging for the Queensland Golf Volunteer of the Year Award presented in March 2018 at the Queensland Golf Industry Awards.
Visit the PGA Australia website for online nominations.
