Wallace and Pascoe takeover at Moyne

The Moyne Senior Classic has wrapped up in fantastic style today at Port Fairy Golf Club. Milder conditions for the area today were reflected in the overall scores returned.

Robert Wallace of Midlands had a solid round today of 77 today to take out the men’s gross title and was thrilled to finish his first year on the men’s circuit with a win. Coming in second place was Chris Tatt of Buninyong followed by The National’s John Wheeler in third place.

Greg Welsh of Colac finished with the best overall nett score of 145, coming in second place was Patterson Rivers’ Tony Hyde with a total of 147. Nett third place by one stroke went to Col Gardner (Melton Valley) with a total of 148.

Helen Pascoe had another steady round today for a 36-hole total of 58 scratch points to win the women’s scratch trophy by 11 points from Heather Harley of Kooringal. Meanwhile in the stableford section it was newcomer Susan Mawhinney of Portsea won on a three-way countback on 66 points from Buninyong’s Helen McSparron, aided by a fantastic score of 37 points today.

Big thank you to both Warranmbool and Port Fairy golf clubs for their amazing hospitality over the past week.

The next event on the Men’s calendar will be the Sorrento Senior Amateur, while the women’s next event will be at the Surfcoast Senior Amateur.
