Webb awarded Australia Day honour

Four-time Women&aposs Australian Open champion Karrie Webb has added a special honour to her stellar career in professional golf. As part of the 2010 Australia Day Honours, Webb was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her service to golf, to the community as a benefactor and as a supporter of a range of health and disability organisations. Speaking via her official website, the 7-time Major winner said she was delighted to recieve the honour. “I have to say that I feel very humbled and I am deeply moved that my country would even consider me for this honour,” Webb said. “I feel like this prestigious honour will continue to inspire me to help others and to give back. It&aposs not lost on me that I am leading a very blessed life. I will always aim to do my best to uphold this amazing appointment.” Webb&aposs charitable work includes funding and hosting the Karrie Webb Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament in support of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and participating annually for no fee in the major fundraising event LIFE that raises funds to eradicate breast cancer. In addition to her philanthropic work, Webb works directly with Golf Australia on the annual Karrie Webb Series- a 13 event series where the final leaders of the series recieve a scholarship and spend time with Webb in the United States.
