Webb storms into last eight

Australian Karrie Webb remains in the hunt for the $1.12 million top prize after qualifying for the final round of the LPGA Tour season-ending ADT Championship. Lorena Ochoa and Paula Creamer won the third day of play, but all scores will be wiped meaning the tournament comes down to an 18-hole shootout between the contenders. Ochoa and Creamer each shot a third-round 66 to be two clear of Webb (68). Joining the trio in the last eight are Cristie Kerr, Sarah Lee, Natalie Gulbis and play-off survivors Kim Mi-hyun and Christina Kim. Webb&aposs passage through to the final looked assured after a solid 33 on the front nine led her to three-under-par at the turn. She birdied the 12th and 13th at the West Palm Beach course in Florida, but dropped a shot with bogey a hole later. The Australian quickly put that out of her mind with birdie at 15 to cement her place at the pointy end of the leaderboard. Ochoa had a bogey-free round of six under-par while Creamer followed an eagle at the 15th with her only bogey of the day to draw level at the head of the field. Gulbis made a bogey at the 13th to be one-over-par with five holes to play, but she responded with birdies on the 14th, 15th and 17th holes to finish with a round of 70 and avoid the dreaded play-off. Sophie Gustafson and Nicole Castrale were ousted in a play-off with the Kims securing the final two places after replaying the 17th and 18th holes.
