An eagle-birdie finish has propelled Harrington Grove's Jason Webb to a one-shot victory in Saturday's Camden Cup.
The plus one marker from Macquarie Links Golf Club posted a handy three-under par 68 in perfect conditions to take the title by a shot from a group of seven golfers including Daniel Gale, Justin Warren, and Stephen Vail.
With the win, Webb has also secured a place in the field of the 2017 NSW Open Golf Championship at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.
Webb struggled to describe the feeling after his win, his first-ever victory in an NSW Vardon event.
"It feels awesome; I can't think of words to describe it,"
"It's my biggest win by far and it's a big prize, a start in the NSW Open,"
The 33-year-old his had a solid run of form recently, finishing second at the NSW Mid-Amateur at Tocumwal last week.
I've been in a good run of form; I hit it better today than I did last week,"
Webb started his day solidly, and after his first nine holes was two under par. A couple of stumbles on the back nine, however, meant a win looked unlikely.
"I hit it to 10ft on the 17th and rolled it in for eagle; then I birdied the 18th,"
"There are a few guys at 69, so I'm really happy to get it done that way," he beamed.
A member of the Macquarie Links Major Pennant team, Webb, who has been playing the sport for about ten years describes himself as a once a week golfer.
"I think I'm going to have to practice a bit more now," he smiled.
Although Webb has been to the golf as a spectator before, he could never have imagined that one day he would be playing in an Australian PGA Tour event.
"I've watched them play at the Aussie Open and on the TV at the PGA, but I've never been to the NSW Open before,"
When asked about any first tee jitters, Webb said he expects he'll have a few nerves when they call out his name on the first tee at Twin Creeks.
"I'll be just trying to get the ball on the clubface," he laughed.
