Whitaker earns third All-ACC selection

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) released its 2010 All-ACC Women’s Golf team on Monday with Duke University senior Alison Whitaker earning All-ACC honors for the third time in her career after a vote of the league s nine head coaches. Whitaker, who is a product of Melbourne, Australia, has posted a 74.85 stroke average, which ranks second on the Blue Devil squad and 12th in the ACC. She is currently ranked 60th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, which is the seventh-highest ACC player ranked. Whitaker has totaled two top five, four top 10 and five top 20 finishes this season against the top fields in the nation. A three-time All-ACC selection, Whitaker placed tied for eighth at the 2010 ACC Championship and turned in a tied for second place finish at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational with rounds of 69-72 for a total of 141. She also placed tied for fifth at the NCAA Fall Preview, which led Duke to the team title. Her seven rounds of even or under par ranks second on the Duke squad. Duke University team mate Lindy Duncan was awarded ACC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Wake Forest s Dianne Dailey was chosen as the league s Coach of the Year. Duke will next travel to Greenville, N.C., to participate in the NCAA East Regional from May 6-8 at the Ironwood Country Club.
