Whitaker on the verge at LPGA Qualifying

ROUND 1 Scores Golf Australia National Squad member Alison Whitaker posted a third round 6-over par 78 to be tied for 27th place at the LPGA s Florida Sectional Qualifying Tournament at the Plantation Golf and Country Club. The top 30 progress. Whitaker, who will represent Australia at the World Amateur Team Championships in Argentina in two weeks, has had rounds of 74 (+2) and 78 (+6) following her opening round 2-under par 70. South Australian and AIS Rookie professional Stephanie Na is tied in 42nd place following her third round 6-over par 78. Eleven players are under par after the opening round, with a total of 22 players at even-par 72 or better in the 72-hole qualifier for the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in December. This week s event is being staged on both the Panther and Bobcat courses at The Plantation Golf & Country Club, host of the LPGA s Florida sectional for the last 23 years. The Florida sectional is the second of two sectional Q-Schools to determine the field of the LPGA s Final Qualifying Tournament, set for Dec. 8-12, at LPGA International on the Champions and Legends courses in Daytona Beach, Florida.
