Whitaker third in Colorado

Courtesy: Duke Women&aposs Golf Just seven days after closing out her junior campaign with the Duke women’s golf team at the NCAA Championships, rising senior Alison Whitaker placed tied for third at the HealthONE Colorado Open Championship on Friday at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver, Colarado. Whitaker, who is from Melbourne, Australia, compiled rounds of 71, 70 and 74 to finish with a 215. Whitney Wade won the tournament by one stroke over Dendall Dye (214). Wade, who is out of Glasgow, Ky., posted rounds of 72, 69 and 72 for a 213. Whitaker was tied with Margaret Shirley for third. On Friday, Whitaker shot even par through the first nine holes and registered seven pars on the back but suffered bogeys on No. 10 and No. 15 to finish with a two-over-par, 74.
