I arrived in California on the 26th June. Dad and I had a great start to the trip. We got upgraded to first class on our flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. We couldn’t believe we got picked to sit upstairs right behind the pilots! It was literally heaven and got so spoilt. It took a few days for me to get used to the time difference but all of the excitement I had just made me forget about any jetlag! My first tournament was the US Junior Girls Sectional Qualifying held at Carlton Oaks, Santee in San Diego. I had a few practice rounds and worked hard to get ready for it. I played the qualifying today and I shot 72 (even) and tied for first. Top 10 made it through to the championship so there will be a good field playing the US Junior Girls from all over the US. Bryden Macpherson also won his US Boys Amateur Sectional Qualifying in California. He had an incredible two round total of -9 and won by three so he will also be playing in the Championship in the next few weeks. Dad and I are driving up to Los Angeles tomorrow morning to get prepared for the US Amateur Sectional Qualifying. I will be playing at Hacienda Golf Club. There will be around 150 women playing and only about 15-20 spots so I will have to grind it hard the next few days and prepare the best I can. The weather is great here so it can t get much better! I will keep in touch on how I am going. Good luck to all the other Aussies around the USA! Hope there will be a few victories! Results will be on www.usga.org
