Harrison Whykes & Kono Matsumoto maintain their overnight leads at the Traralgon Classic heading into the final day tomorrow.
Whykes (Settlers Run) capitalised on his round 1 lead, posting 6 birdies for a 3 under par round of 69. Score of the day came from Royal Melbourne’s Josh Hetherington recording an almost flawless card of 8 birdies and an unfortunate double for a 6 under par 66. Hetherington has shot into second place and trails Whykes by a single shot, with Tom Couling (Commonwealth) hot on their tails a further two shots behind.
Victoria’s Kono Matsumoto is making a charge in the women’s section, posting a 1 under par round of 70 today, which included 4 birdies, to be leading by 7 shots from Sheradyn Johnson of Commonwealth. Johnson is a shot ahead of Sandhurst’s Kai Shipp whose round today was highlighted by an eagle on hole 14.
Players now have the afternoon off for recovery before the 36-hole final day tomorrow. Round 3 will start early in the morning via a shot-gun start at 7:30am.
