Wide Bay Junior Open & Closed Championship – Results

A good field took to the picture perfect Bargara Golf Course on Fathers day to compete in the Junior Wide Bay Open and Closed Golf Championship, which also doubled as the districts last Greg Norman Junior Masters Qualifier. In the Division 1 GA boys the Open and Closed went to a playoff after Bargara member Blaike Perkins and Bundaberg member Cameron McFarlane both had even par rounds of 72. After both boys gave themselves 12 foot birdie putts for the win it was Blaike that came out victorious after Cameron’s putt just missed and Blaike’s was successful. Well done to both boys.

In the Girls division, Bundaberg Junior Isabella Artchuea took out the title for the third straight year with a fine round of 79. Isabella was closely followed by Hervey Bay junior Lydia Shackell 1 shot behind on 80.

In the Division 2 (16-36) GA Boys, Trigg Sutton (Bundaberg) took the win with a round of 84, followed by Jack Wooldridge (Bundaberg) on 87.

The 13 Hole boys division was taken out by Jason Leisemann (Bundaberg) with a round of 77, Girls Division winner was Aimee Garland (Maryborough) with a round of 81.

The 9 Hole boys competition was won by Jordan Schroen (Hervey Bay) with a gross score of 46 and Girls winner was Debbie Sutton (Bundaberg) with a round of 56.

Thanks to Bargara for hosting a great day, the next Wide Bay District local carnival will be held in Maryborough on the 15th of October.
