Casey Wild has produced a final round 77 to take a one-shot win over Louise Briers in the 2019 Victorian Women’s Spring Tournament.
Wild is awarded the Ruby McKenzie trophy, named after one of Victoria’s best country golfers.
Wild, Briers and Vicki Waldron were all tied after day one with Briers the only player to play in the morning round.
Briers set the pace with a terrific 78 off the stick but Wild would keep her cool with her 77, highlighted by two back nine birdies.
Briers would not go home empty handed as she took out the Vi Teesdale Trophy.
The trophy is handed out to the best net score for 36 holes, which for the first time in 2019, was awarded on stableford points.
Briers would hold out Joanne Rathjen by one shot after the pair finished on 72 and 71 respectively.
Louise Briers was also awarded the A grade gross.
Joanne Logan took victory in the A grade net after her score of 69 points finished two ahead of Karen Green and Nola Geary.
In the B division, Glenda Woods would take out the gross on 184 by one from Jenny Richter.
Richter was victorious in the stableford section of B division with her score of 69 points.
Coral Ward would hold on to her overnight lead in C division despite a spirited comeback from Kathy Keating.
Ward backed up her first round of 92 with a 106 today to give her a final score of 198.
Keating, who was six behind going into the round, finished with a fantastic 97 but fell one short with her score totalling 199.
Keating would finish on 65 points which was enough to take out the C division stableford.
In D grade, Joanne Rathjen would claim all honours as she won both the gross and net.
Rathjen finished with 204 off the stick to win by one from Angela Fooks.
Rathjen’s stableford score of 71 won by seven from Michelle Thomson.
Golf Australia would like to thank Myrtleford and Bright Golf Clubs for their fantastic hospitality and beautifully presented golf courses.
The many volunteers from both clubs did a terrific job and helped the event to run smoothly.
