Willunga MyGolfers presented with certificates

Willunga MyGolfers have been presented with certificates to acknowledge completion of the Clubs recent MyGolf program.

The presentations were made by Kay Huddy, a member of the Willunga Golf Club. Kay is 80 years old and still pays golf regularly including the Ladies competition on Tuesday mornings. Kay has been playing golf since she was 16 years old and her husband and three daughters still play golf at Willunga. Kay recently won her grade’s competition conducted on a Tuesday.

The MyGolf program is run by the Willunga Golf Club. MyGolf is a program developed by Golf Australia to help interest young people in playing golf. The participants are coached in the basics of golf and taught the skills of driving, putting and chipping. As they develop their skills they play some golf from the Orange Tees. These tees were installed recently to encourage junior, beginner and elderly golfers by shortening the holes.

The program is for 10 weeks and is run by Helen Schulz, a member of Willunga Golf Club and a Qualified Community Instructor with Golf Australia, with support from other Willunga Golf Club members.

As part of the fee the participants not only benefit from high class coaching but receive a golf bag, club, cap and other golf equipment with the compliments of Golf Australia.

Willunga Golf Club has run 2 courses this year and each course involves 10 – 15  juniors  from  five to 12 years The club has  been operating the courses for 4 years and have coached in the vicinity of 120 juniors.

Coaching is available for the participants who continue on with their golf and they can join the Willunga Golf Club’s very successful senior junior coaching program. The juniors are encouraged to become members of the Willunga Golf Club with a junior membership being available.

The next program will commence 6 February, further details can be found > here
