Wilson Wins Jean Derrin Trophy

Olivia Wilson (New South Wales GC) has taken out the Jean Derrin trophy for 2011/2012 with a scoring average of 76.06 across 17 Jean Derrin nominated rounds. Two rounds of 74 at Club Catalina GC in her home town of Batemans Bay as well as an even par 72 around the challenging The Lakes GC layout set the platform for a consistent 12 months. Wilson s form continued over the summer months including a solid performance at the Lake Macquarie Amateur with rounds of 78, 77 and 74 and an appearance at the Women’s NSW Open which yielded rounds of 74 and 76. The year was highlighted by Wilson being awarded the Captaincy of the Ladies State team which recently finished fourth at the Interstate Series in Adelaide. Wilson then rounded out her year by finishing 11th at the Women’s NSW 72-hole Stroke Play Championship s and a quarter finals appearance at the Women’s NSW Amateur. Two fellow State team members filled the minor placings with Lauren Hibbert (scoring average 77.08) and Adriana Brent (77.16) finishing second and third respectively. The Jean Derrin Trophy is open to female amateur golfers who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap, and who have a handicap of 8 and under. A selected number of nominated events make up the Jean Derrin Trophy. The winner of the Jean Derrin Trophy will be the player who has the lowest scoring average for the 12 months and has played a minimum of 12 rounds in nominated events.
