Windred fires at Baddeley International

>

The Australian Golf Club’s Blake WIndred has got off to a great start in the Aaron Baddeley international Junior Championship at La Costa Resort & Spa in San Diego overnight.

He is in a three-way tie for the lead after a 4-under par round of 68, alongside Western Australian Minwoo Lee and Andrew Fernandes of the United States.

Windred got off to a shaky start, with two bogeys in his first three holes. He remained patient however and was rewarded with a couple of birdies on the 5th and 7th holes to turn his score around.

“I’m really proud to think I can stay patient and grind it out,” he said. “I rolled a few nice putts in coming home.”

"4-under was a good way to start the tournament.”

“Let's stick another good round together tomorrow!” Windred said.

In the Girls individual title, Celina Yuan sits in a tie for 4th after a 1-under par 73. She is 4 shots behind leader Kara Sanford of the United States.
