Windy conditions suit Bagust at Senior Am

A new leader has emerged at the top of the leaderboard after round 2 of the Australian Men’s Senior Amateur.

Blustery conditions proved to be difficult for the majority of the field but not for Port Macquarie’s David Bagust.

Following a round of 74 yesterday, Bagust carded a brilliant score of one under par, attributing his experience playing in windy conditions to converting his sub-par score today at Maroochy.

“I was pretty consistent off the tee and hit a lot of good iron shots. I’ve played a lot of golf in the wind so know how to keep it low. I was lucky on occasions too as I had quite a few shots that landed close to the hole and stayed there.”

Bagust heads into the final round tomorrow with a single shot lead from fellow New South Welshman Lester Peterson of Bardwell Valley.

In the state teams’ event, QLD and NSW have jumped to the top of the pack with only one shot separating the two teams, with 2018 champions team VIC still in contention a further two shots back.
