Mitch Crabbe and Jeneath Wong have claimed the Curlewis junior titles with rounds of 73 and 76 respectively. At just 13-years old Wong made it back-to-back wins after taking home the honours for two consecutive years. The déjà vu continued for the Huntingdale member as she carded the exact same score of three over-par last year for the win today in gusty conditions.
Like Wong, Mitch Crabbe has a strong affinity for the course when he too performed well last year only to be notched out on a count-back for the title. However, Crabbe had his revenge and was too good today, recording a solid round of one over-par to walk home victorious by single shot. Starting on the 10th hole, the Commonwealth member had a slow start with bogeys at 11, 12 and 13. However a birdie at 16 shifted the momentum in his favour before closing with one-under 35 on his inward nine for his round of 73.
A suburb round by Aashish Sudarsanan saw him walk home with the Division A prize carding a nett round of 69 to edge out local Curlewis member Nicholas Unsworth by a solitary shot. Playing from handicap of 12 Jacob Ngo found the day easy going with a nett score of 68 to walk home with top spot in Division B. A three-way count-back between Corey Wakeman, Levi Wardle and Rex D’Arcy was needed for the runner-up and third places. In the end it was Corey Wakeman that was awarded second place and Levi Wardle third. Some phenomenal scores were returned in the C Division with Anton Kovacevic and Lucas McDonald tying with 47 points apiece. Kovacevic prevailed on a count-back for top spot.
