The Grange, Glenelg and Kooyonga have enjoyed a winning start to the season, in round one of the 2015 Women's A1 Pennant Competition at The Grange.
Last season’s runner up, The Grange, are off to a flying start winning 5-0 against old rival Royal Adelaide, the same opening round score line as last year.
Ella Adams, Jean Foo, Kristalle Blum and Jin-Young Yun all won convincingly with the closest match a 3&1 win to former Royal Adelaide player Caitlin Roberts over Jill McEwen.
Glenelg who have won the past three titles, proved too strong for Blackwood also winning 5-0.
Glenelg breezed through this season’s opening tie, unlike in their round one match last year, when a major upset was on the cards, with Blackwood winning match five and almost claiming then next two matches.
Josie Hodge back after a season’s layoff won 5&4 at number five for Glenelg, followed by her mother Jill winning 4&3 over Paula White.
Sophie James also back into the fold won 5&4 against Sally Graham, before Elysia Yap at number two defeated Angela Masters 4&4.
Jenny Lee closed out the contest with a 2&1 win over Jo Buchanan.
In the final match of the round, Kooyonga opened in fine style defeating the Golf SA combined team 4 – 1 winning the first two matches of the contest.
Susan Keylock won for the Fringe at number three over Caillin Lakin 4&3 before Kooyonga’s top two players got the job done with Deb Percey winning over Rachel Taylor 3&1 and Lyn McGough defeating Deb Christie 3&2.
