Women�s British Open Starts Tonight – 6 Aussies in Action

Queenslander Karrie Webb will lead the Australian contingent in this week’s major, the RICOH Women’s British Open being played at Trump Turnberry Resort.

Back in 2002 Webb won this event at this very course.  The seven-time major winner finished at 15-under-par total and two strokes clear of fellow compatriot Michelle Ellis and Spain’s Paula Marti.

Webb is one of six Australians who have qualified for the fourth major of the LPGA season.  Joining Webb is last week’s winner of the Ladies Scottish Open, Rebecca Artis, fellow New South Welshwoman Sarah Kemp, Minjee Lee, Su Oh and Stacey Keating.

The Rd1 tee times for the Australians are as follows (local time):

  • Webb – 7.25am
  • Lee – 8.53am
  • Artis – 9.36am
  • Kemp – 10.43am
  • Keating – 12.32pm
  • Oh – 1.38pm

The defending champion is American Mo Martin, while Rolex World No.1 Inbee Park, 2013 RICOH Women’s British open champion Stacy Lewis and World No.2 Lydia Ko will be among those looking to dethrone Martin at the 72 hole event.

144 players will be vying got the title and their share of the US$3million purse.
