Women from clubs and districts across the state came together last week at Magenta Shores Golf and Country Club for a one-day forum to discuss issues facing women in golf clubs.
The event, organised by Inside Golf magazine, discussed the challenges and opportunities for women in golf club governance – why it’s important for more women to be involved and how to encourage women and girls into playing the game.
Increasing membership levels particularly amongst girls, club engagement and the topic of female participation in golf club governance was discussed.
All panelists and forum participants shared their experiences during the event, and there was a great mix of information and detail shared about approaches to the differing challenges that many clubs are facing.
The forum, which was a great success, concluded with a nine-hole par 3 competition, and plans are already underway for a second forum in the coming months.
