Women’s Captains & Presidents Day a success

The Women’s Captains and Presidents of more than 40 Victorian clubs met at Latrobe Golf Club for a day of golf, trophy presentations and information sharing.

The competition format was Canadian Foursomes Stableford competition and was won by the Lakeside representatives, Jill Wain and Lindy Kerr, with 43 points.  Orbost’s Audrey Gurtner and Jennifer Dennis were Runners Up 2 points behind. Normanby Park and Shepparton also had a good day on the course scoring 40 points each.

Trophies for the International Bowl and Mona MacLeod Brooch were also presented to the 2013 winners. These traditional trophies are accepted with great pride. Thousands of Victorian women golfers compete for them at club level with the winners then competing at state level.  Congratulations to all the winners!

The day was also a valuable opportunity for Golf Victoria to update clubs on recent changes in the women’s area and other current golf related matters. Issues discussed included changes in women’s tournament conditions – particularly associated with the changes in the Golf Australia handicapping system – amongst many others.
