Women’s Country Meeting

The final round of the Women&aposs Country Meeting is complete. A very enjoyable day for all competitors at Lynwood Country Club saw Jodie Rockliffe and Susan Reguson of Coolangatta win the Vera Rankin Trophy for best gross score in Division 1. The Coolangatta ladies were popular winners with loud cheers erupting in the clubhouse when the result was announced. They were four shots clear of runners up with a score of 87. Jocelyn Mackay of Moss Vale, the winner of the 36-hole event, partnered up with club mate Sally Bailey to take the runner up spot with a score of 91.

In Division 2, winners were Elizabeth Knowles of Coolangatta and Susanne Smith of Moree with a score of 100. Runners up were the Belmont ladies, Darlene Vandercamp and Michelle James with a score of 103. All competitors were complimentary of Lynwood Country Club which provided a fantastic golf course and a very welcoming reception from the staff and members. Prizewinners – Day 2

Two out of three days of the Women’s Country Meeting have been played. Day two presented superb conditions for golf with the sun shining and no wind present. Penrith Golf Club hosted day two and the majority of the field improved their scores from the opening day at Glenmore Heritage Golf Club. Starting day two with a five shot lead, Jocelyn Mackay of Moss Vale Golf Club secured the Mabel McKenzie Trophy with a score of 86 to total 165 in the Division 1 of the 2013 Country Meeting. Runner up was Liz Smyth of Royal Canberra Golf Club, equalling Jocelyn s score on the second day to finish with a total score of 170. Division 2 winner Lorainne O Connor of Muree Golf Club had a score of 192 to take home the Rose Payten Trophy. Runner up was fellow club mate Helen Ratley also of Muree Golf Club just one shot behind on 193. Division 3, a stableford format saw Susan Reid (25) of Leeton Soldier&aposs Golf Club come from behind and add 33 to yesterday s score of 34 to take the Marie Chapman Trophy with a score of 67. Runner up was Patricia Hill (40) of Maitland Golf Club with a score of 64. The final day of the 2013 Women’s Country Meeting will take place on Thursday 5 September at Lynwood Country Club. The first day of the 2013 Women’s Country Meeting got off to a good start at Glenmore Heritage Golf Club. Jocelyn Mackay (5) from Moss Vale Golf Club leads division 1 by five strokes with a gross score of 79. Helen Ratley (22) from Muree Golf Club is the leader of division 2 with a score of 91. Division 3 leader after day one is Susan Reid (25) with 34 points. Tomorrow s round is at Penrith Golf Club to finish the individual component of the Country Meeting. The 2013 Women’s Country Meeting was developed exclusively for country women to participate at Sydney metropolitan golf courses. Over 100 ladies will play in this year s event, being held at Glenmore Heritage, Penrith and Lynwood Golf Club’s from 2-3 and 5 September 2013. Draw and Player Information The format for the event is stroke play over 36-holes for Division One and Two, 18-holes on Monday, and 18-holes on Tuesday. Stableford is played over 36-holes for Division Three, 18-holes on Monday and 18-holes on Tuesday. Thursday is an 18-holes foursomes event. Good luck to all for the tournament.
