Women’s Grade 2013

Three divisions of the 2013 Women’s Grade competition have been decided with the final rounds of the competition coming to an end on Friday the 22nd of March. In a tightly contested Division 3 it was Killara Golf Club who won the Grade 3 Pennant. Despite three other clubs also achieving an equal number of victories over the five rounds it was Killara placing first due to an overall higher number of individual match wins. The final round was played at Royal Sydney Golf Club and whilst Killara lost to Cumberland in the final round it proved to have no consequence as the team had already achieved enough wins throughout the round stages to clinch the division. Division 5 was a different story with Moore Park winning the women’s Grade 5 Division emphatically from their fellow competitors. Moore Park progressed through the Division without dropping a contest, winning four out of the possible five rounds that were played with the remaining contest being a draw with Woolooware in round 2. This was due to a cancellation as a result of heavy rain that was experienced in the lead up to the event. At Marrickville Golf Club it was Penrith who finished 2 points clear of Long Reef to win Division 6. In another closely contested Division it was Penrith who proved to have the greatest consistency going through the Division undefeated with two squared contests against Kogarah and Marrickville. Penrith s victory over Long Reef in round 1 would prove to be the difference and the club will be looking to repeat this success when they move up to Division 5 next year. The remaining Divisions still have two rounds to complete with the culmination of the 2013 Women’s Grade competition taking place on Friday the 12th of April.
