Women’s Major Pennant wrap

Avondale have taken out Pool One Division One of Women’s Metropolitan Major Pennant without swinging a club after a final round washout against Concord.

Avondale’s opponents next week, The Lakes, had a 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 win at home against their neighbours Bonnie Doon. Tracy Davison led the way for the Lakes with a 4&3 win. Chiziru Ueda and Taylah Ellems grabbed wins for the Botany outfit to ensure their spot in the semi-finals.

For Concord, the final home game of the year was supposed to be a huge opportunity to leapfrog their opponents and take out the top spot in the group.

Unfortunately for the Inner-west team, with the match abandoned, a semi-final date with the formidable Australian Golf Club Women’s team now awaits them. The Australian showed how tough they will be next Sunday with a five/nil win at home over a plucky Castle Hill team. Kirsten Convoy and Stefanie Hall had big wins for the Kensington outfit 6&4 and 5&4, while Amy Chu Jessica Lasky and Tess Clarke all won after their matches reached the 18th hole.

In Division Two, St. Michael’s, who had the bye last weekend will win the pool despite having one round still to play. The Maroubra side haven’t lost a game or a point all year, and seem unstoppable.

Ryde Parramatta Could only get a half a point against stonecutters Ridge, with a 2/12 all draw, while Cumberland could only manage a half against Cronulla at Cronulla.

With one round of the Division Two pennant remaining, it will take an extremely unlikely win over St. Michael’s by Stonecutters Ridge and a Ryde-Parramatta loss to North Ryde to Change the grand final positions.
