Women’s Silver Medal Play-Off

31 October 2011 The 2011 Women&aposs Silver Medal Playoff was held at Wakehurst Golf Club today. Over 130 women from Clubs around NSW competed, with both morning and afternoon starts. To be eligible to compete in the Golf NSW Women’s Silver Medal play-off a player must have entered the 2011 Golf NSW Women’s Medal Competition and won a Division 2 Medal at club level. The winner of a Golf NSW Division 2 Medal is the player returning the lowest nett aggregate of three scores at the end of the six specified club stroke rounds. The Silver Medal is the Division 2 Medal and the handicap limit is 23 to 32. Prizes are awarded for Metropolitan and Country. An early start to the day was met with sunny skies even though rain had been forecast, and the course was presented in great condition. Metropolitan The winner of the Metropolitan Medal was Patricia Stiles (h/c 29) from Killara with a fantastic nett 69. Patricia also won the scratch with 98. Second place went to Bayview player Angela Haynes (h/c 27) with a nett 74 and third place to Wakehurst player Mary Streeter (h/c 28) nett 76. Metropolitan Women Results Country The country ladies found the course a little more difficult but still had some good rounds. The nett winner with 79 was Jean Heaver (h/c 25) from Bermagui. Second place with nett 80 to Pam Langburne (h/c 25) from Windsor and third place to Pam Rigg (h/c 32) from Shelly Beach with nett 81 cb. The scratch winner was Cecilee Tapp from Narooma with 97. Cecilee who had played early in the day waited patiently for all of the ladies to finish before she was convinced that she was the worthy winner.
