Phil Wood and Chris Coats have won through to the Australian Men&aposs Senior Amateur Match Play Final after posting wins in their respective semi-finals at Barwon Heads Golf Club on Thursday. Wood strung a superb round together to down Alan Evans 3&2 while Coats provided a grandstand finish to his match against Denis Dale. With both players landing successfully on the 18th in regulation, they paced it out to determine who would putt first. Coats stepped up, drained his clutch 15 footer to pile the pressure upon his opponent. With a large crowd watching on from green side and the clubhouse, Dale&aposs effort slid just past the lip, narrowly missing out on the chance to force extra holes. Players encountered tough windy conditions on the beautifully prepared Barwon Heads course. Similar conditions are expected for Friday&aposs final.
