Wood takes lead in Qatar

Englishman Chris Wood will take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the Qatar Masters after shooting an eight-under 64 on Friday. The 25-year-old, whose first and so far only professional win came in Thailand last year, hit seven birdies and an eagle at the Doha Golf Club to go to fifteen under for the tournament, leaping up nine places on the leader board and into the outright lead. A group of three players trail Wood by three shots, with New Zealander Michael Campbell, who shot a 68 on moving day, Swede Alexander Noren (66) and Wood&aposs compatriot Simon Khan (64), all on twelve under. Khan was particularly impressive, climbing 29 spots to go into the final day with a realistic chance of victory. Veteran Spaniard and joint overnight leader Sergio Garcia is joined by South African Branden Grace tied in fifth place on eleven under. A group of four players, headed by Australian Marcus Fraser, who was tied with Garcia at the start of the day, are a further shot back in seventh position. The other two overnight leaders, Martin Kaymer and Ricardo Santos, were less impressive, with Kaymer only managing a par-round of 72. He goes into the final day tied eleventh on nine under, while Portugal&aposs Santos capitulated, carding a 76 that puts him tied for 38th on five-under par.
