Woodland in control in Reno

Big-hitting American Gary Woodland holds a seven-point lead heading into the final round of the Reno-Tahoe Open. Woodland picked up 16 points during Saturday&aposs third round after carding an eagle, six birdies and one bogey to sit on 37 points in the Modified Stableford event at Montreux Golf and Country Club. Fellow American Brendan Steele roared home with five birdies and an eagle on his closing six holes to card the best round of the day and lead the chasing pack in outright second place. The 30-year-old picked up 17 points to move to 30 overall in Reno, Nevada, one point clear of David Mathis (12). Argentine Andres Romero (5) is a further two points back on 27, two clear of South Korea&aposs Charlie Wi (6). Dicky Pride (13) is in outright sixth at Montreux on 24 points, one clear of South African Rory Sabbatini (8). Stuart Appleby (2) is the leading Australian on 21 points in a share of12th, three points clear of lefty Greg Chalmers (18). Rod Pampling dropped three points to sit on 16 in a tie for 40th while Nathan Green (4) is in a share of 44th.
