Woods, Singh face off

Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh are sharing the lead after the second round of Charlotte&aposs Wachovia Championship, while Australian Rod Pampling is just three shots off the pace. Woods and Singh though, head the field on six under par after rounds of 68 and 71 respectively alongside Arron Oberholser, who carded a 69, with all three players one shot ahead of Jason Bohn and Ted Purdy. Woods, playing in his first event since the Masters more than three weeks ago, was nowhere near his imperious best but again showed he can still contend when below par. The world number one was erratic off the tee and found just five fairways but was bailed out by an excellent short game to avoid dropping a stroke until his final hole, the par-four ninth, where he pulled his drive into trouble and had to pitch out almost sideways. Singh also made a tardy start in dropping two shots in his outward half but came home strongly, playing his final three holes in three-under. Pampling (70), meanwhile, hit a birdie on the sixth hole and an eagle at seven before birdieing 17, although the Australian did hit two bogeys including the 18th to finish the day tied for seventh position on three-under overall. Adam Scott (69) is a further stroke behind Pampling alongside John Senden at two-under overall, while Matthew Goggin (73) could not maintain him impressive form from the first round where he hit 70. Nick O&aposHern has moved to par through a second round 69 while Geoff Ogilvy (73) and Stephen Leaney (70) also remain in contention, seven strokes behind the leaders as Peter Lonard missed the cut and Stuart Appleby was disqualified for score card complications.
