Victoria’s Sue Wooster leads the Australian Women’s Senior Amateur after round one, three strokes ahead of seven-time champion Sylvia Donohoe (NSW).
Under threatening skies at Maroochy River Golf Club on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Wooster’s two-over-par 74 included one birdie and three bogies. Having recently won the Canadian Women’s Senior Amateur, and finishing runner-up in the British Women’s Senior Amateur, Wooster’s good form continued.
In third place is a group of four players, including 2016 champion Jacqui Morgan (NSW), and runner-up Helen Pascoe (Vic) who all returned a 6-over-par 78.
The second qualifying round will be played tomorrow, after which the leading 16 players qualify for elimination match play.
