Wooster tracks another title

Victorian Sue Wooster took medalist honors in the Australian Women's Senior Amateur Championship at Nelson Bay in New South Wales and has comfortably progressed to the final eight in match play.

Wooster, 57, a seven-time club champion at The National and the defending national champion, shot a four-over par 76 on Tuesday to go with her opening 73. At five-over par, she was two shots ahead of the field.

The 2019 US Women's Senior Amateur runner-up breezed through her round of 16 match on Wednesday with a 6&5 win over Victoria's Heather Gellatly.

But she could face a stern challenge from Jacqui Morgan of New South Wales, a two-time national champion who had the low round of the day on Tuesday, a 73 with three birdies, to move into the No. 2 seeding at seven-over par.

Morgan, from Monash CC in Sydney, took care of Newcastle's JIll Blenkey in the opening round of match play 3&2 to progress.

Thursday morning will see the remaining eight players square off, before the four winners progress to this afternoon's semi finals.
