Wright makes positive start

Lindsey Wright is the leading Australian after the first round of the US Women&aposs Open in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, six shots behind playing partner Na Yeon Choi. Wright carded a three-over 74 to sit in a tie for 37th place. Choi holds a one-shot lead ahead of the trio of top-ranked Loreno Ochoa, Cristie Kerr and Jean Reynolds. Starting on the back nine, Choi birdied the first three holes and then added another on the fifth to take an early advantage, but a pair of bogies on the way back prevented the South Korean from building a bigger advantage. Another South Korean, Hee Young Park, carded a 70 to sit fifth, the only other player to finish the day under par. Dual US Open champion Karrie Webb could only manage a 75, while Katherine Hull finished with a 78. Rachel Hetherington carded a disappointing 80 to be in a share of 124th place.
