Australian Lindsey Wright claimed outright fourth place behind Brittany Lincicome, who hit an eagle at the 18th hole to pick up her first major title with a one-stroke win at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in California. Karrie Webb and Katherine Hull finished in a tie for eighth spot but the day belonged to American Lincicome, whose brilliant shot to within four feet on the par-5 18th set up the short eagle putt, putting her on three-under 69 for the round – nine-under 279 overall. In the process she overturned a one-shot deficit on leaders Kristy McPherson and Christie Kerr, who finished the day on 72 and 71 respectively. “I can&apost even describe it. It&aposs surreal, really,” Lincicome said. “Huge shot on 18. Right when I hit it, it came off on the clubface exactly where we wanted to hit it and took the slope like I wanted it to and came really close, thank God.” Wright maintained her standing near the top of the leaderboard with a closing two-under 70 to see her finish on six-under overall. Webb fired a closing three-under 69 and Hull an even-par 72 to close at two-under, seven strokes behind the winner. McPherson, who began the day one shot ahead in the sole lead, started badly with two bogeys in her first five holes, but pulled it back with three birdies in four holes from the seventh. However, she was unable to hit the birdie she needed at the 18th to force a playoff, allowing Lincicome to pick up the title. Lindsey Wright ended in sole possession of fourth place at six-under 282 after going round in 70 while Suzann Pettersen (66) and Meaghan Francella (69) tied for fifth. Defending champion Lorena Ochoa finished eight shots back at one-under 287, but she ended with a flourish by also chipping in for eagle at the 18th to cap her final-round 69.
