Yoon continues her charge at VJM

Players took advantage of perfect morning conditions for Round 2 of the Victorian Junior Masters with 4 boys and 4 girls posting below par rounds. A total of 312 birdies were holed by the field during round 2, as well as 4 eagles.

The Overall Boys section is tight at the top with nine players with six shots of the lead which is shared by Victorian’s Mitchell Crabbe and Matthew Lever. Lever posted the round of day shooting a 5 under 66, which included back to back bogeys on the 4th and 5th holes. Commonwealth’s Mitch Crabbe was the next best on day 2 with a 4 under 67, including just one bogey.

Spring Valley local Nivethan Kanthan is leading the Under 14 boys category with rounds of 76 and 75 to have a 4 shot lead. In the Under 16 Boys category, Nathan Page’s even par second round leaves him 3 shots ahead of Queensland’s Andrew Park. In the Boys Nett category, Royal Melbourne’s Thomas Hatt has a 2 shot lead over Mitchell Crabbe.

In the overall girl’s category, Korea’s Min A Yoon continued her charge following her terrific first round with a second round 68. Min has carded just 2 bogeys in her first 2 rounds and currently has a seven shot lead over Southern GC member Kay Bannan who is at 4 under. Bannan has played terrific golf over the two round posting 11 birdies.

The Under 14 Girls Category is currently been lead by Wonbee Yeo from Queensland, while Min A Yoon is also leading the Under 16 Category.

Due to the extreme heat forecast for Friday January 4th, the third round has been CANCELLED. The event has been shortened to 54 holes and the draw will be released at 11am on Friday morning. The course, clubhouse and practice facilities will be closed all day.
