Young hot shots check in at Draft Camp

Australia&aposs brightest young female golfing prospects are currently at the inaugural AIS Draft Camp, held at Moonah Links on Victoria&aposs Mornington Peninsula. The program is an integral part of a series of camps to be conducted annually as part of the new AIS Golf Program and Golf Australia initiative driven by Peter Knight, Director of Elite Development at Golf Australia and Mark Holland, AIS Head Coach. The 13 girls will be put through their paces as coaches start to build a profile of each player to assist with the coaching and development of this talented young group. Each girl has been invited to bring their coach to the Draft Camp to work inclusively with Mark Holland, Peter Knight and the network of expert service providers that is available through the AIS and Golf Australia Elite Development programs. AIS Head Coach Mark Holland said, “The Draft Camp has been established to give us the opportunity to assess the various attributes of these young, promising players as we strive to maintain the quality of up-and-coming Australian golfers. “The girls should also see it as a valuable opportunity to work on their game and meet with some of the finest coaches and mentors in the country.” The AIS Draft Camp commenced on Monday September 10 and will conclude on Wednesday September 12 with a 36-hole competition to be played on the Legends and Open Courses at Moonah Links. The 2008 Women&aposs AIS Squad will be chosen from the talent pool that has been invited to attend Draft Camp and will be announced in November.
