Yun and Thompson win final SA Junior Open

Jin-young Yun (The Grange Golf Club) & Nicholas Thompson (The Grange Golf Club) have taken out the third and final 36 hole Girls & Boys Golf SA Junior Open of the summer, played at Mount Osmond and Flagstaff Hill GC.

Yun playing off a handicap of two, extended her eight stroke round one lead to finish with rounds of 68,79 (147), 12 strokes clear of Nayoung Ku (Mount Osmond Golf Club) 76,83 (159).

Nett Winner was Caitlin Woods handicap 23 from Barossa Valley GC with nett scores or 66,68 (134).

In the boys event after round one at Mount Osmond, four players; Andrew Feibig, Liam Kennewell, Will Arnold and Nicholas Thompson were all tied after posting even par rounds.

It would be Thompson though who faired the best at Flagstaff Hill posting a three-over 75 to finish with scores of 70,75 (145), two ahead of runner up Frank Vucic from Glenelg 74,73 (147). Andrew Fiebig 70,77 finished third on countback.

The boys nett winner was Declan Bayly handicap 10 from Westward Ho with nett scores of 65,73 (138).

The handicap limit for the third and final SA Junior Open of the summer was also extended to allow higher handicap juniors the opportunity to participate in a state run event. Those players who met this criteria (boys GA handicaps 18+ and girls 30+) participated in a stableford event over 36 holes.

The eight juniors who competed in this event also teed off from the Orange Tee Markers which had been implemented at both courses, The orange tees provide a shorter length course setup suitable for developing juniors.

The Stableford event was taken out by Charlie Nobbs from The Vines with 85 points. Nobbs off a handicap of 18 scored 46 points on day one and 39 points on day two. Sebastian Leaney (handicap 19) from The Grange, was runner up with 78 points (39,39)
