Kooyonga Golf Club in Adelaide will host the 2017 Southern Cross Invitational from 16-19 March.
The Southern Cross Invitational is the amalgamation of the Southern Cross Cup (a biennial male teams event played between Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Australia), and the Four Nations Cup (a biennial male teams event played between Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand).
With Australia and New Zealand competing in both events and to avoid Trans-Tasman duplication, it was decided to amalgamate the events to establish the Southern Cross Invitational, which in 2015 included teams from Argentina, Australia, Chile, Canada, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal and South Africa.
From 2017 women will be added to the event and will see teams comprised of four male players and three female players competing over 72 holes stroke play. The best three out four male scores and the best two out three female scores will count towards to the team scores.
The 2015 event was played in Argentina, with the Australian team of Jarryd Felton, Cameron Davis, Cory Crawford and Brett Coletta finishing third.
Australia last hosted the Southern Cross Cup in 2005 at Royal Canberra Golf Club, and the Four Nations Cup in 2007 at Barwon Heads Golf Club.
