Kingston Heath Golf Club was the venue for the GSA hickory golf day held on Tuesday 28th July. Twelve golfers were very fortunate to play this world rated, sandbelt, course on a sunny and pleasant winter afternoon. The course was presented in immaculate condition and the hospitality offered to the golfers by the club, and its staff, was much appreciated by all.
The nine hole stableford competition of the day was won by Charles Wilkins of Woodlands. A trophy was donated by Kingston Heath to the Golf Society, and Charles, as the inaugural winner, will be the first to have his name engraved on the trophy. Concurrent match play matches were also conducted.
Before, and after the game, all golfers enjoyed the company, and refreshments, in the clubhouse. President, Geoff Vincent provided sandwiches for the group after the game, and we were very appreciative of his generosity.
Future hickory golf days are scheduled to be played at Metropolitan, Commonwealth and Kingston Heath (for the GSA Hickory Championship) in the coming months. The Society encourages all members to attend a hickory day if you have not done so before. Loan hickory clubs are available for those who require them. We are privileged to be able to play on top class courses and enjoy golf in the company of like-minded golfers.
