The Emirates Australian Open begins today.
After a Wednesday of great pro-am action and sentiment surrounding the 19 past champions in a memorable ceremony to celebrate the tournament’s 100th edition, we are down to action from 6.45am (AEDT) on Thursday at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney.
The big names roll right from the start with a host of international talent in the first handful of groups.
The morning’s marquee match of past Australian Open winners – dual major champion Jordan Spieth, 2006 US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy and former world No.1 Lee Westwood – tee off the 10th at 7.05am.
The second phase of play begins at 11.45am, with a swag of past champions mixed among some of Australia’s brightest young talent. The afternoon’s marquee match features three of world golf’s sweetest swingers – 2009 champion Adam Scott, 2006 winner John Senden and power-hitting Belgian Nic Colsaerts – off the first tee at 12.10pm.
