South Australian National Coach Gareth Jones has been acknowledged as the Sport SA 'Coach of the Year' at the KPMG Celebration of South Australian Sport Awards Night.
The who’s who of South Australian Sport attended the black tie event held at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Jones who has previously been a top three finalist, won the prestigious award for providing a developmental pathway from junior level to the Golf Australia National Squad and Rookie Professionals.
As National Coach for SA, he has implemented a High Performance Camp Program for elite players, introducing world class service providers that SA players would have little access to.
The state award is another feather in Jones’ cap after being crowned the SA PGA Teaching Professional of the year award in October.
In other awards, star player Antonio Murdaca was a top 10 finalist in the ‘Sports Star of the year award’, won by cyclist Rohan Dennis.
Murdaca was recognised for outstanding achievements over the past 12 months including winning the Asian Amateur Championship and subsequent invite to play the US Masters (first South Australian to do so).
