A group of five players is on four under the card, including former dual champion Aaron Baddeley and US Tour player Rod Pampling. West Australian Stephen Leaney was disqualified for not signing his card, saying he forgot as he was distracted by an incident on the 12th green when high winds played havoc with players&apos putting. OFFICIALS MOVE AS GREENS BECOME SLICK Friday, 3:50pm Tournament officials have stepped in after complaints about the speed of the greens during the second round of the MFS Australian Open at Moonah Links. Several players complained that hot and windy conditions mean some putting surfaces are verging on becoming unplayable. West Australian Stephen Leaney was disqualified after refusing to sign his card following a second round 74. He shot 78 yesterday and missed the cut at eight over par. Peter O&aposMalley walked off the par four 12th with a seven as the wind played havoc with his putting. Officials decided to water the green lightly between groups after the incident. Tournament chief Colin Phillips said a northerly wind blowing through the gully was making putting from behind the pin difficult. Meanwhile, Robert Allenby has stretched his lead over Adam Scott to three shots and remains nine under par. Allenby had a mixture of birdies and bogeys through the middle holes but was able to fend off Scott who mounted a front nine challenge before slipping off the pace and back to six under par. He was level with Victorian Scott Laycock while a trio of players, including left-hander Nick O&aposHern were at four under. However, fellow Victorian Scott Laycock, who began the day in third spot, has picked up a shot at the second to move to eight under. World No.8 Adam Scott also birdied the second hole to jump to seven under par and keep Allenby in his sights. Young American rookie Spencer Levin, second outright overnight, has struggled in the windier conditions today, though. The 21-year-old Californian stumbled to a double bogey six at the third and dropped a further shot at the sixth and has slipped back to joint fifth. Defending champion Peter Lonard finished the second round with an even par 72 to be two over for the tournament but should make the halfway cut. DOYLE CAPITALISES ON LOCAL KNOWLEDGE Friday, 12:01pm Local Mornington pro Martin Doyle is making a move up the leaderboard in the second round of the MFS Australian Open at Moonah Links. A former Victorian and South Australian PGA champion Doyle cruised through the front nine in 33 today after three birdies. He picked up another shot at the par four 10th to move to five under the card and held a share of fifth place as he begun the homeward nine. Overnight leader Robert Allenby hit off with a one shot lead after a course record 63 yesterday. American Spencer Levin started the day in second spot and remained there after beginning with two steady pars. Another shot back was Victorian Scott Laycock while World No.8 Adam Scott starts the day six under the card and three shots off the pace. MIXED START FOR OGILVY Friday, 10:30am Local star Geoff Ogilvy has endured a mixed start to his second round of the MFS Australian Open at Moonah Links. With winds picking up ahead of predicted thunderstorms, Ogilvy dropped a shot through the front nine as he began the chase after the leaders. A US Tour winner this year, the Victorian started steadily with pars at the first four holes. But he slumped at the par three fifth where a double bogey five dropped him to four under for the tournament. He managed to retrieve one shot with a birdie three at the next to climb back to five under the card. Ogilvy was four off the pace set overnight by Victorian Robert Allenby, who blasted a nine under par course record 63 in the opening round. Allenby led by a shot from American rookie Spencer Levin while Victoria&aposs Scott Laycock was another shot back in third place. World No.8 Adam Scott held a share of fourth spot after a first round 66.
