By Alistair Hogg Just weeks after claiming the Trans Tasman Cup over New Zealand, Australia has beaten their rivals once more taking the stroke play team&aposs event in Invercargill on the weekend. It was the first time Australia had been invited to participate in the tournament which features regional teams from across New Zealand, and the visitors did not disappoint. The Aussies held a two-stroke lead from the Bay Of Plenty after Saturday which turned into a nine-stroke lead over North Harbour through 54 holes on Sunday. By the end of the day, Australia had racked up a massive lead of 22 shots as they shot a tournament record of 33-under. The previous best was 22-under set by Canterbury seven years ago. Rohan Blizzard was the pick of the Aussies as he carded three consecutive rounds of five-under to claim the Russell Hayward Memorial Player of the Tournament award ahead of Danny Lee from the Bay Of Plenty. North Harbour finished second behind Australia, their highest ever finish, while Bay Of Plenty and Canterbury were third and fourth respectively.
