Australian Bryden MacPherson shot a superb second round of five-under to move within five shots of the lead at the World Junior Championship at Torrey Pines, San Diego. The 16-year old had a near flawless round, shooting seven birdies on his way to a 67 – outright tournament best at this point. MacPherson was three-under going through the turn and finished with a flurry, carding four birdies in six holes. It was the best possible way for the youngster to bounce back after an opening round of 78 and it leaves him well in contention going into the second half of the tournament. Fellow Australians Matthew Giles had a 73 to leave him three shots off the pace while Queenslander Daniel Nisbet had a 72 to also find himself tied for fourth.
