The veteran played six events on the Tour this year culminating in his one-shot victory in the final event. That took him to $422,004, well clear of New Zealand&aposs David Smail, the next highest eligible player. To be eligible for the Order of Merit title, players must have taken part in at least four events. That ruled out MasterCard Masters winner Aaron Baddeley and Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA champion Peter Lonard. But Parry, the winner of the third of the major three tournaments in Australian golf, was eligible. It is the third time the 41-year-old has won the Order of Merit title after his successes in 1995 and 2002. He will continue to mix Japanese and Australasian Tour duties in 2008. Smail finished with $168,460, playing five events while Paul Sheehan won $154,439 in five events to finish third. American Scott Sterling ($150,747) was fourth, Greg Chalmers ($150,342) fifth and James Nitties, who played ten events, ($142,176) was sixth. Peter O&aposMalley ($134,438) was seventh, while Won Joon Lee&aposs fast finish to the MFS Australian Open saw him finish eighth overall on $133,844. Ninth was Adam Bland ($117,905) and tenth was Marc Leishman (115,427). The top 50 full members of the Tour get an exemption for 2008, while numbers 51 to 60 get conditional exemption.
