South Australian pair Cara Guest and Sarah King overcame a one shot deficit after the morning round to lift the trophy at the Australian Women’s Foursomes Championship at Riversdale Golf Club in Melbourne on Friday. Guest and King shot a first round 75 to sit one stroke behind fellow South Australians Emma Ash and Ebony Heard who fired a 74 in Friday morning s play. The winners matched their morning 75 in the afternoon round to overcome the pairing of Ash and Heard by two strokes as they finished second with a second round 78. With clear skies and a gentle breeze, conditions were perfect for the 64 players in the field. NSW pair Adrianna Brent and Elle Sandak shot rounds of 75 and 78 to share third place with Queensland duo Courtney Massey and Ashley Ona who finished with rounds of 78 and 75. Srixon Australian Amateur champion Justine Lee and her partner Claudia Lim (NSW) finished in fifth place and one stroke behind the two pairs in third place. 2010 marks the first year since 2007 that the championship has been won outright by one pair after honours were shared in the last two years.
