NSW flavour to Junior championship leaders

AUSTRALIAN GIRLS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP, ROUND 2 Results – Round 2 Chantal Hodson (NSW) grabbed a share of the lead with Japan s Saki Suzuki after firing her way into contention at the Australian Girls Amateur Championship at Ulverstone Golf Club. Hodson opened the championship with a 4-over par 77 but fought back in the second round with a 3-under par 70 to take a share of the lead with Suzuki who finished with a 2-over par 75. Both are tied at 1-over par. Korean Annie Choi is in outright third place at 2-over par following her second round 1-under par 72 after her opening round 76. A five stroke gap has opened up between third and fourth place which overnight co-leader Lauren Mason (NSW) and Queensland s Claudia Lim share at 7-over par. NSW pair Cathleen Santoso and Dana Bariball are tied for sixth place at 8-over par after rounds of 77 and 76 respectively. Queensland s Gennai Goodwin, Western Australian Jayde Panos and Victorian Tilly Poulsen are tied in 8th place at 9-over par. The final round begins on Friday. AUSTRALIAN BOYS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP, ROUND 2 Launceston Golf Club Australian Boys&apos Amateur – Results Round 2 Jarrod Freeman (NSW) fired a eye-catching 5-under par 67 to take a one stroke lead into Friday s final round of the Australian Boys Amateur Championship at Launceston Golf Club. Tied for fifth after the opening round, Freeman leads South Australia s Anthony Murdaca in outright second after a second round 3-under par 69 moved him to 4-under for the championship. Murdaca won the Boys Golf SA Masters at Royal Adelaide Golf Club in January. Ricky Kato (NSW) matched Murdaca s round of 69 to move into a share of third place with overnight co-leader Cameron Smith who shot a 1-over par round of 73 in pleasant conditions. Three players are tied at 1-over par including Queensland pair Remo Fueg, Sam Daley and NSW star Jake Higginbottom. Richard Coleman (QLD), Cory Crawford (TAS), Jamie Hook (NSW) and Ben Rogers (VIC) are tied at 2-over par and seven strokes behind Freeman. The final round begins on Friday.
