AUSTRALIAN BOYS’ INTERSTATE TEAMS MATCHES, ROUND 3&4

New South Wales has maintained its lead at Cabramatta Golf Club but leads by just two matches over Western Australia, who they play on Wednesday.

The NSW boys defeated Northern Territory 4-1 in the morning and Queensland in the afternoon by the same score line.
Jake Higginbottom and Jarrod Freeman continued their excellent run of form as Higginbottom defeated Australian Boys’ Amateur champion Cameron Smith 7&5 in the match of the day.
The pair started on the 15th hole and Higginbottom fired six birdies to put the result beyond doubt.
Western Australia is in second place following wins over the ACT and Victoria with Oliver Goss and Lukas Michel winning both their matches for WA.
Queensland is in third place following the afternoon loss to NSW but defeated South Australia in the morning.
South Australia sits in fourth after an afternoon 5-0 win over Northern Territory which was highlighted by an excellent match between former Australian Boys’ Amateur champion Anthony Murdaca and NT’s Anthony Quale with Murdaca prevailing 1up.
Victoria is in fifth place and Tasmania in sixth after Victoria won the afternoon contest between the pair 3 ½ to 1 ½.
ACT and NT complete the leaderboard with both looking for their first contest victory.
The fifth and sixth rounds are played on Wednesday.

The Queensland girls put themselves in an unassailable position at the top of the leaderboard and have a bye tomorrow to enjoy their victory.
Queensland defeated Western Australia 4-1 in the morning and Victoria 4 ½ to ½ to seal their place as champions tomorrow with a 5 ½ match and one contest lead over NSW in second place.
Emily McLennan maintained her good form in winning both matches as did her team mates Lauren Mason and Zoe Field.

NSW is in second place after a morning bye and a strong 4 ½ to ½ win over South Australia in the afternoon with Chantal Hodson (NSW) recording a convincing 9&7 win over Elysia Yap.
WA dropped to third place following their morning loss to Queensland and an afternoon bye but is just half a match behind NSW going into the final day.
The Victorians are in fifth place with the morning win over South Australia their first contest victory.
South Australia is in sixth place and faces Western Australia in the final round.
The final round is played on Wednesday.
