2011 Emirates Australian Open champion Greg Chalmers is one of several Australian players fighting for their PGA Tour livelihoods over the remaining weeks of the 2013 season. A number of players need significant results in the next few weeks to guarantee their playing status in 2014. Nine-time PGA Tour winner Stuart Appleby and two-time Australian Open champion Aaron Baddeley join Chalmers in needing to boost their numbers in the weeks to come. Baddeley started his 2013 season well with a top 6 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in January but other than a top 15 finish at the Valero Texas Open, has struggled this year. The Victorian has missed his last ten consecutive cuts and is not exempt for next week&aposs WGC-Bridgestone Invitational or the US PGA Championship on August 8 at Oak Hill. Chalmers has fared a little better but has not finished inside the top 50 at a regular PGA Tour event since the PLAYERS Championship in May. “To be honest, it is impossible not to be thinking about it. You get a text every Sunday night updating you of your position and where you stand,” Chalmers told AAP reporter Ben Everill. “There is a lot of pressure. If you are looking for a low pressure job, you shouldn&apost take up golf.” Having used all his career exemptions in recent times, Appleby has just three events to find his way into the top 125 of the FedEx Cup points list or the money list to continue with full playing rights next year. Robert Allenby is 183rd in points and 179th in money but has a career money list exemption he can use to play again next year. Scott Gardiner, Cameron Percy, Rod Pampling, Nick O&aposHerrn, Alistair Presnell and Nathan Green all need big results in the coming weeks to lift their position on the money and points lists. Adam Scott, Jason Day, Marc Leishman, John Senden, Geoff Ogilvy and Matt Jones have secured their rights for 2014 while Steven Bowditch should confirm his status in the coming weeks.
