Adelaide Football Club – Winning Team > John Hinge, elite Amateur Blake Proverbs (QLD), Rhett Biglands & Rod Jameson The Adelaide Crows have taken out the inaugural Golf SA Battle of the Codes Golf Showdown, held in conjunction with the Golf SA Corporate Day. Played at the Glenelg Golf Club on Wednesday 2 April, the Crows Team of past players Rod Jameson, Rhett Biglands and John Hinge blitzed the field with a score of 88 points in the Team Stableford Competition, where the best two Stableford scores of four on each hole count. To assist the teams, each was grouped with one of Australia s elite Amateur golfers, invited to Adelaide by Golf SA, to compete for South Australia s leading 72 hole Amateur Golf Championships; the combined Golf SA Men’sAmateur Classic and Women’s Rene Erichsen Salver commencing the following day (Thu 3 April through Sun 6 April) at Glenelg GC. The Crows team was grouped with golf prodigy and Australia s number 1 ranked junior in 2013 Blake Proverbs from Queensland. Biglands and Jameson can thank Proverbs and Hinge for the win, with Proverbs dominant and Hinge having a day out, scoring 3 birdies on the front nine and amassing himself 26 stableford points through nine. The Port Adelaide Team of current Power players Matthew White and Jack Hombsch who were assisted by elite Amateurs Michael Montgomery (Aust ranked 82) from WA and Elizabeth Elmassian (Aust ranked 8th) from NSW, finished 14 points behind the Crows on 74 points in 7th place overall. The Redbacks Cricket Team of Callum Ferguson, Sam Raphael and Elliot Opie, anchored by elite amateur Jack Williams (SA), who won his second SA Amateur Championship title a fortnight ago were pipped by the Power on a countback to finish 8th. The Adelaide Bite team of former players Chris Lawson & Chris Simms and General Manager Nathan Davison, assisted by Australia s 37th ranked Amateur Sam Rawlings from Tasmania, finished at the foot of the field on 69 points.
