Five Aussies land U.S Open spots

Australian contingent at this year's U.S Open at Pinehurst has been boosted to 11 after today's sectional qualifying across the United States.

Rod Pampling, Aaron Baddeley, Robert Allenby, Aron Price and Brady Watt all came through qualifying to punch their ticket for Pinehurst next week from 12-15 June in North Carolina.

The quintet will join World Number 1 Adam Scott, Jason Day, John Senden, Matt Jones, Geoff Ogilvy and National Squad member Oliver Goss who were already exempt in the field.

For Price, who will be playing in his first Major championship, the result will boost what has been an up and down year on the Web.com Tour. Price won the Gloria Jeans NSW Open at the end of 2013 on the PGA Tour of Australasia and finished in a tie for third at the Web.com Tour's Panama stop but has struggled to make cuts in recent months.

For Perth local and Golf Australia Rookie Squad member Watt, it will also be his first Major championship having turned professional towards the end of 2013.

44 year-old Pampling will be making his 8th appearance at U.S Open with his best result coming in 2008 at Torrey Pines where he finished in a tie for 14th.

England's Justin Rose is the defending champion.
